The RM of Wheatlands No. 163 was approved for a total amount of $5,116.00 through the SGI Provincial Traffic Safety Grant.
The program provides up to $100,000 (per location) to municipalities and Indigenous land or territories. The goal of this fund is to stimulate and support local, collaborative action that will increase traffic safety awareness. Local traffic initiatives will help reduce collisions, traffic injuries and fatalities within Saskatchewan.
The program began in 2019 and uses funds from photo speed enforcement tickets.
With those goals in mind, we have installed 2 solar flashing beacons to the existing STOP signs at Range Road 3020 (Courval Grid) and Highway # 1 intersections on north and south sides.
Our application was among 98 requests for funding during the Jul 1- Sept 30, 2024 Provincial Traffic Safety Fund Grant Intake. The committee approved 81 requests, providing $1.5 million in funding to improve traffic safety in Saskatchewan communities.
